#SAYHISNAME Christian Sierra Christian was loved and did not need forgiveness for being non binary, non hetero. He was killed by the bullets of a cop, after the slow bleed of deep cuts inflicted over and over, some quick self inflicted with0l quick spurts in a frantic attempt to end the pain. Communities kill our LGTBQ beloved as sure as the hand holding the knife and the cop shooting the bullet. We are all complicit when intolerant and silent in face of homophobia so strong one's identity is not even acknowledged, even after death. Poignantly tragic as that lack of acknowledgement in life is part of what led to this death of this young man. Regardless honor Christian Forgive and not judge. But that doesn't require failing to raise uncomfortable truths to self assess as a community in order to do better. We can't have another child suicidal due to homophobia nor another murder by cop due to lack of training in effective response to emergency mental health crises.I am trying to call attention to the wrong we do as a community when our schools, churches and families can't fully acknowledge our LGBTQ members without judgement. Please be aware the harm you can do by not being open and try to be better, do better, and strive to do no harm. May this provide solace and joy for some to remember Christian. #Say His Name.
